Cortlandt Troopers: Deli, Gas Station Sell Alcohol to Teen

Clerks at two local businesses are accused of selling alcohol to an 18-year-old who was part of an underage drinking enforcement detail run by state police from the Cortlandt barracks.

Troopers conducted the sting Wednesday, Nov. 27, they said in a recent statement. An 18-year-old underage operative attempted to purchase alcohol, without being asked to show identification, at 15 businesses throughout the Town of Cortlandt, the Town of Yorktown and the Village of Buchanan.

Employees at Oregon Shell, at 1208 Oregon Road in Cortlandt Manor, and the Montrose Deli, at 4 Kings Ferry Road in Montrose, received court appearance tickets for violating the New York State Alcohol Beverage Control Law. The businesses were cited, too.

"The State Police in Cortlandt will continue to work with local police departments to periodically and randomly conduct similar type underage drinking enforcement operations in various Northern Westchester jurisdictions," officials said in a statement.

The Yorktown Police Department assisted with the detail.
