Free Folk Concert; Irish Fest; Putnam Valley Town Day

There are tons of ways to keep busy around Cortlandt and Peekskill this weekend, and we're here to help you decide which happenings are for you.

Here are the details for three great events (click on the links for more information). Scroll down to the end of this article for information on a few more.

5th Annual Hudson Valley Irish Fest
When: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday
Where: Riverfront Green Park in Peekskill (Hudson Avenue)
Why go? There will be plenty of live music—including The Pipes & Drums of the Police Emerald Society of Westchester County—at this event, plus delicious food, a kids area and craft vendors. Organizers call it a "celebration of Irish American culture for the whole family."

Homegrown String Band
When: 2 p.m. Sunday
Where: Hendrick Hudson Library in Montrose (185 Kings Ferry Road)
Why go? Finish off your weekend with a free folk music concert.

Peekskill Rotary 43rd Annual Horse Show and Country Fair
When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday
Where: Blue Mountain Reservation in Peekskill (Welcher Avenue, off Route 9)
Why go? This year's event will feature English and Western riding, a stagecoach complete with four horses, a craft market, baked goods and tons more. Check back with Patch Friday for more on the horse show.
