Veterans Day in Cortlandt, Peekskill; New Librarian; 'Men Making a Difference'

Monday (Nov. 11): It's Veterans Day, a federal holiday. Government offices and schools are closed, as are banks. Local events include American Legion Post 274 Veteran's Day ceremony and a ceremony in Peekskill. Today's weather should be cloudy, with a high of about 53 degrees, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Tuesday (Nov. 12): On tonight's committee of the whole and common council meeting agendas: a new librarian director, holiday parking, a youth board appointment and the repair of the Riverfront Green playground equipment (more information here). Expect mostly cloudy skies to give way to sun. Temperatures will peak around 41 degrees.

Wednesday (Nov. 13): There's a meeting for parents and coaches of winter sports in the Peekskill High School (PHS) cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. Hendrick Hudson High School evening parent/teacher conferences are tonight, as is a board of education meeting for the district. The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of about 40 degrees.

Thursday (Nov. 14): The first annual Great Expectations: Men Making a Difference event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Learn more here. The weather should be sunny and warmer than earlier in the week.

Friday (Nov. 15): It's the end of the first quarter for Peekskill City School. The Hendrick Hudson Free Library will host a book chat for fourth and fifth-graders at 4:15 p.m. The work at hand is Feathers, by Jacqueline Woodson. Expect sunny skies and a high of 52 degrees.
