Appointment to Peekskill Common Council; Board of Education Meetings

Expect sunny and mostly sunny skies throughout week, with temperatures hitting a high of 64 degrees today, 71 Tuesday, 72 Wednesday, 70 Thursday and  69Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Nighttime lows will likely range from 39 to 51 degrees.

On the agenda for tonight's committee of the whole meeting in Peekskill: the inaugural stick ball tournament, the senior citizen nutrition program and more. Afterward at the common council meeting, members are slated to appoint Vivian McKenzie to the body (the appointment lasts until Election Day); pass a resolution to change a portion of Union Avenue from one-way during certain parts of the day to two-way; and discuss this year's Section 8 plan.

In school happenings: There's a Peekskill City School District modified sports meeting for coaches and parents Tuesday evening at 6:30; the Hendrick Hudson School District Board of Education will meet Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.; and the Lakeland Central School District Board of Education will meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
