Sheridan Taylor (Peekskill '11) recorded four rebounds in 17 minutes of play for Baruch College in its 69-54 defeat to the Anchorwomen of Rhode Island College in the first round of the Division III NCAA Tournament played on March 2 in Providence, R.I.

The Bearcats finish the season with a 19-10 overall record. They have won at least 18 games during each of the past eight seasons.

Kisslinger Takes First

The below was submitted by a local basketball supporter. We say thank you to them and congratulate Kisslinger on a job well done and wish him the best of luck in the state finals:

This past Sunday, March 18, at St. Gregory the Great School in Harrison Kyle Kisslinger of Cold Spring took first place in the 10-year old Boys Division of the Knights of Columbus Downstate Regional Free Throw Championship.

Representing the Westchester/Putnam Conference (Peekskill Council #462), Kyle sank 24 out of 30 free throws (including 5 out of 5 in a five-shot playoff) to advance to the State Finals which take place on April 28th at West Point.  He previously won the the Westchester/Putnam Conference Competition held on March 10th by sinking a total of 26 out of 30 (also including 5 out of 5 in a five-shot playoff).

In the State Finals, he will be representing the Downstate Region which includes the Westchester/Putnam, Hudson Valley, Capital, and the Manhattan/Bronx/Staten Island Conferences. 

Local Bloodlines

Kyle is in the 5th grade at Haldane Elementary School.  Kyle’s father, Derek (Hendrick Hudson HS Class of 1989), is a former varsity boys basketball coach at Hendrick Hudson and his grandfather, John Kisslinger (Peekskill HS Class of '60), is a former two-time Westchester County Free Throw Champion and 2010 Peekskill HS Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee.
