One of our local teams, Hendrick Hudson, will be playing for the Section 1 Class C title. The Sailors are looking to defeat defending champion Bronxville, coached by Hen Hud graduates Tim (head coach) and Todd Horgan.

“Face-offs again, possession of the ball and being good on the offensive side are the keys to the game," Hen Hud coach Craig Solomon said. "Bronxville is very good offensively, so we are going to have to try and limit transition."

The below is the schedule, taken from posts on the LoHud Boys Lacrosse Blog, written by Mike Dougherty, who does a great job previewing each game.

Class C  3 p.m. No. 1 Bronxville (18-1) vs. No. 11 Hendrick Hudson (10-9)

Class A  5:30 p.m. No. 4 Mahopac (11-7) vs. No. 10 Mamaroneck (9-10)

Class B  8 p.m. No. 1 Yorktown (14-4) vs. No. 2 John Jay (12-6)

NBA Playoffs

Peekskill graduate Elton Brand and his Philadelphia 76ers played valiantly against the host Boston Celtics but fell 85-75 in Game 7 of the National Basketball Association's Eastern Conference semifinals on Saturday, which ended the 76ers' season, according to ESPN.com.

Brand contributed 15 points and six rebounds to the 76ers' effort.

Trailing just by three, 71-68, it appeared the visitors had an opening to win the game when Boston's Paul Pierce, one of the great clutch playoff performers of this generation, had fouled out late in the game.

Boston though finished the game by oustscoring the 76ers 14-7 to seal the win, as Rajon Rondo (18 Pts, 10 Reb, 10 Ast, 3 Stl) led the Celtics down the stretch.
