Host No. 2 and No. 10 Brewster's Section 1 Class A quarterfinal playoff contest at the John Devins Gymnasium Feb. 22 wasn't for the faint of the heart.

Every time Peekskill seemed in position to take control of the game, Brewster would creep back in the contest, making the Red Devils work for everything they got.

In the end though, Peekskill survived Jack Dignan's 32-point onslaught, which led all scorers, in the Red Devils' 80-73 triumph over the Bears.

Peekskill's Chandler Pierce was right there putting on a tremendous performance as well, as he tallied a team-high 30 points. Teammate Eddie Reeves was also in double figures, tallying 12 points.

Ryan Mahoney and Mike Bonilla each contributed 14 and 13 points respectively for the Bears.

Mahoney kept Brewster in the game with a trey to pull the Bears within six of the Peekskill lead, 71-65, with 2:08 remaining. A Chavis Pigott foul shot then increased Peekskill lead's to seven.

The Red Devils followed by making the defensive play of the game when Kyree Hull stole a Brewster pass, fed it upcourt to Pierce on the fast break, who emphatically dunked it, sending the hometown fans into a frenzy.

Dignan though would not give up, as he drilled his fourth 3-point bomb of the fourth quarter with 30 seconds left to pull Brewster within six but two foul shots by Pierce sealed the game for the Red Devils.

Peekskill will now play old-time rival from back in the day No. 11 Poughkeepsie at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29 in the sectional Final Four at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
