Glickert records game-high for Fireballs in girls hoops: Peekskill-Cortlandt Daily Sports Digest Jan. 24

Peekskill recreation hoops

The Peekskill Recreation Youth Basketball Program saw some games that came down to the last minute in its second week of action (Jan. 14).

There were 2 games in the Boys Cub Division, 2 games in the Pee Wee Division as there was in the Girl’s Division.

Boys Cub Division

The Cub Division which consists of boys in the 5th and 6th grade saw the Red Storm get by the Blue Knights by the score of 28-19.

Leading the way for the victors was Isaiah Walker with 9 points and James Skinner Cowan with 8. Terrell Jarvis chipped in with 5. Marcus Ruff led the Blue Knights in scoring with 11 while Jordan Hill tallied 4.

The Stetson Hatters raced by the Tarheels and came away with a 30-16 victory. Charles Lovett paved the way with 11 points with Darius Garcia playing a solid game with 8. Daquan Wilson led the Tarheels in the scoring column with 6 while Ronald Scott and Chandler Kall each had 4.

 

Boys Pee Wee Division

The Boys Pee Wee Division also saw some close contests with The Hawks, led by Alex Williams’ 5 points, as they defeated the Hornets by the score of 12-6. Joshua Allen registered 4 points for the Hawks.

All of the Hornets scoring came from Jaelyn Norman Thomas with 6. The second game of the doubleheader had the Eagles flying by the Cardinals by the score of 17-13. Jameek Allen Dabbs had a big 4th quarter with 6 points to go along with a game high 8 for the Eagles. Myles Walker of the Cardinals also had a strong 4th by scoring 6 of his 7 points. Malachi McDonald tossed in 4 points.

 

Girls hoops

In the girl’s action, the Gumdrops squeezed a 10-5 victory over the Skittles. Akua Yeboah was the main scorer for the Gumdrops with 8 points while Sandra Murphy had 2 to go with some strong defensive play.

Tatyanna Arceneaux and Francesca Snipes each scored 2 for the Skittles. The Fireballs got by the Kit Kats with a score of 14-7. They were led by Jodi Glickert with 10 points and Jordan Alston with 4. Alissa Thompson had 4 points for the Kit Kats.
