It was a memorable day for all those who participated in the City of Peekskill Recreation’s annual MELVIN T. BOLDEN ALL AMERICAN FISHING DERBY at Lake Mitchell in Depew Park on May 5, 2012.

There were a total of 83 participants that ranged in age from 2 to 14 years old. After the last fish was caught, a total of 79 fish were recorded in hopes of catching the biggest one.
There were winners in each age group and prizes to the most fish caught and largest fish were awarded. In the 4-year old and under age group, Princess Golden had the most and Albert Perez caught the biggest.
In the age group of 5 to 8 years old, the winners were Jonathan Torres and Judaiah Gourdine with the most fish caught while Damon Baisley caught the biggest at 12.5 inches.
Luke Torres caught the most fish on the day and the biggest catch went to Madison Perez with a 13 inch bass. Both were in the 9 – 14 year old age group.
Everyone received a gift bag and certificate of participation. At the end, Hotdogs and refreshments were served.
Rebels Win
Lakeland/Panas' Chyna Hill and Taylor Scialdone each scored a hat trick for the Rebels in their 11-8 win at Rye on May 7 according to Gina Pernicano's post on the LoHud Girls Lacrosse Blog.
Teammates Molly Fitzpatrick and Emma Bozek each added two goals.
Sailors Victorious
Pernicano also reported that on the same day Hendrick Hudson's Kennedy Sherman registered five goals in the Sailors' 20-8 triumph against visiting Beacon.
Teammates Bailey Stewart added four goals and Amber Feminella had a hat trick.
