Hen Hud School District Residents OK Budget, Bus Purchases, Library

Voters in the Hendrick Hudson School District overwhelmingly approved the 2014-15 school district budget on May 20.

The final count was 616 Yes and 224 No.

The annual Bus Proposition also passed, 577 Yes and 239 no.

Incumbent School Board trustees Barbara Pettersen and Charles Thompson were re-elected, with 626 and 571 votes, respectively. The two ran unopposed.

The Hendrick Hudson Free Library vote, which appears on the same ballot as the school district, but is otherwise unrelated, was Yes -626, No-183.

Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter was very pleased with the results, saying, “When a school budget is approved by the voters, it’s a validation of the work we do year-round to provide a strong and valuable education for our students at a reasonable cost to the taxpayers. We are always grateful for that validation.”

Hochreiter also expressed his thanks for the approval of the Capital Projects referendum in December: “The technology and infrastructure improvements underway as a result of that vote will ensure that our staff and students are fully able to succeed in the highly competitive 21st century environment. We thank the voters for their support of this mission.”
