The sculpture was created by Lauren Davis from Croton. Ms. Davis worked on the statue in a studio generously donated by Westchester Industrial Complex in Buchanan. The bronze was cast using the lost-wax technique at Modern Art Foundry in Queens.

The statue will be installed on a boulder near the 14-foot steel beam recovered from the fallen North Tower of the World Trade Center.

The design of the Memorial, entitled Reaching Through The Shadow, was a collaboration between Ms. Davis and James W. Rhodes, FAIA, formerly of Croton. The installation of the sculpture will complete the Memorial, which is a sundial registered with the North American Sundial Society. There is also an adjacent Remembrance Garden at the site alongside the Hudson River.

There will be a formal dedication ceremony of the whole Memorial complex later in year on Sept. 11, 2014.
