Yorktown Cops: Peekskill Teen Steals $36 Worth of Clothing from Store

Written by Plamena Pesheva.

A 14-year-old Peekskill teen was arrested for stealing $36 worth of clothing from a Yorktown store, police said.

The girl was arrested on Oct. 5 at around 8:30 p.m. after police received a call from Olympia Sports in the Jefferson Valley Mall that she had stolen two shirts, valued at $36. The teen was stopped by police outside of the mall's north entrance.

Due to her age, she was charged with juvenile delinquency. The underlying charge, had it been committed by an adult would have been petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

The teen was released to a parent and scheduled to appear at the Department of Probation for counseling on Oct. 16.
