Troopers: Peekskill Woman with Prior Conviction Drove Drunk

A 24-year-old Peekskill woman—who has been convicted of drunken driving within the last 10 years—is facing a felony charge of driving while intoxicated, according to police.

State troopers from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Kayla S. Spearman at about 10:40 p.m. Sunday. They stopped her on Valley View Street in Yorktown because she was following the arresting officer's police vehicle "too closely and then made a lane change with out utilizing a signal," authorities say.

A breath sample showed Spearman's blood-alcohol level was 0.11 percent, according to police. The legal limit is 0.08.

The defendant, who was also charged with felony first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, is due in Yorktown Justice Court Sept. 3.
