Peekskill Man Critical After Car Crash

Peekskill police are investigating a car crash that took place on the Bear Mountain Parkway Sunday morning.

A Peekskill man remains in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center after he crashed his 2004 Toyota Corolla on the Bear Mountain State Parkway Sunday morning.

The accident took place just before 5 a.m. when the driver of the car, a 34-year-old Peekskill man, rolled his vehicle over near North Division Street. Police did not release the driver's identity Monday.

There were five passengers in the car at the time of the accident. Four of the passengers were treated for their injuries at the scene and released.  A fifth passenger left the scene of the crash before police arrived.

Police said said the driver was heading home after a night out and had stopped by several local establishments prior to the crash.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Police are waiting for toxicology reports to see if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Bear Mountain Parkway was closed for several hours while police investigated the scene.
