Montrose Man Accused of Using Baseball Bat During Assault

A 47-year-old Montrose man who allegedly struck another resident with a baseball bat is facing felony and misdemeanor charges, police say.

Troopers from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Michael A. Gray Monday in connection with the assault, which occurred Sept. 6. Gray is accused of hitting the man and causing a head injury. He also reportedly hit the victim’s vehicle with the same baseball bat and caused damage.

Police charged Gray with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief, both felonies, as well as fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

Gray was arraigned before Justice William Maher in Peekskill City Court and ordered to reappear at a later date.

"Anyone with information regarding criminal activity is encouraged to contact the New York State Police at (845) 677-7300," authorities said in a statement.
