US Attorney: Man Planned Sex, Pix with 11-Year-Old Boy (Undercover Cop)

A 62-year-old Manhattan man who police say traveled to Peekskill to have sex with and take erotic photos of an 11-year-old boy faces sexual exploitation and enticement charges.

The boy with whom he is alleged to have exchanged emails and instant messages was an undercover investigator.

Stephen P. Brown was arrested March 2014 in Peekskill. Brown, 62, is charged with one count of attempted sexual exploitation and one count of attempted enticement. 

With respect to the attempted sexual exploitation, he faces a minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment and a maximum sentence of 30 years’ imprisonment.  With respect to the attempted enticement, he faces a minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a maximum sentence of life.  

The maximum potential sentences in this case are prescribed by Congress and are provided here for informational purposes only, as any sentencing of the defendants will be determined by the judge. 

The investigation, which involved agencies including the Rockland County Computer Crimes Task Force; district attorneys' offices from Westchester, Sullivan, New York and Albany counties; state and city police and the FBI, is still open.

The prosecution is being handled by the Office’s White Plains Division. Assistant United States Attorney Marcia S. Cohen is in charge.
