Cortlandt Parents Arrested After House Party where Alcohol was Served to Minors
State police said 80 to 100 students from Walter Panas, Hendrick Hudson and Lakeland high schools were at the party, which took place Saturday night in the Town of Cortlandt.
A 37-year-old Cortlandt Manor man and his 38-year-old wife were arrested Saturday after they allegedly allowed their 17-year-old son to throw a house party where alcohol and marijuana was being served.
State police said there were 80 to 100 students from Walter Panas, Hendrick Hudson and Lakeland high schools at the party, which took place on Buttonwood Avenue, across from the Hudson Valley Hospital Center.
Police said they arrived at the residence at about 11:23 p.m. after they received complaints from about cars blocking the flow of traffic in the area. Several partygoers ran from the scene when police arrived.
When police interviewed the son, he allegedly told them that the had party grown too large for him to control. The son’s 12-year-old sister was also inside the home during the party.
The parents were charged with misdemeanor counts of unlawfully dealing with a child and endangering the welfare of a child. The son was charged with a violation of unlawful possession of alcohol.
All three were given appearance tickets to appear in Cortlandt town court on Jan. 18.
