MESSAGE FROM MAYOR-ELECT FRANK CATALINA

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy holiday season and a healthy new year.  As the Christmas festivities wind down we look forward to the New Year with great excitement. The public swearing in of the newly elected officials will take place at City Hall at 11am with a luncheon at the Elks Club at noon. Everyone is invited. While these events are ceremonial for the most part, I would like to say a few words here about the position of Deputy Mayor. While perfunctory for the most part, I believe the Deputy Mayor should have, on key issues, the same philosophy as the Mayor. I am excited because the prior Administration had no self employed small business owners on the Council and now there will be four!  I firmly believe a sound business community is the very heartbeat of every community.  It is for this reason I am pleased to announce here today that I will propose Councilwoman Vivian Mckenzie to serve as Deputy Mayor of the City of Peekskill and I have instructed the City Manager to prepare and publish that Resolution for presentment to the Council on Jan 1st.  I urge the entire Council to rally behind the selection of this dynamic independent business owner who has invested her blood sweat and tears into a Peekskill business and who knows intimately how decisions made by the Council directly impact businesses. With all that said, I look forward to seeing you all on the first.
