Joan Murray: Longtime Cortlandt Resident
Visiting hours for Mrs. Murray will be from 4-8 p.m. March 14 at the Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining.
On March 10, Joan Lindy (Hatzmann) Murray passed from this life.
Born on June 24, 1927 in North Tarrytown, NY, she was the daughter of Alfred Hatzmann and Rose (Kacian) Hatzmann. She was the widow of Richard Thomas Murray, whom she married on August 27, 1950.
She is survived by her children, Richard, Randall, Katrina, David and their respective spouses. She is also survived by two brothers as well as seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Two brothers and her two sisters preceded her in death.

In addition to raising her children, she had a full and varied career as a secretary, real estate agent, and medical receptionist. She moved to her home in the Furnace Woods area of Cortlandt in 1957 where she resided until shortly before her death. An avid animal lover, she will be remembered for the menagerie of wildlife that she routinely attracted to her property.
Calling will be held at Thursday from 4-8 PM at Dorsey Funeral Home on Emwilton Place in Ossining. The funeral service will be held at Friday at noon at the Funeral Home. The internment will follow at St. Augustine's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPCA, 590 N. State Rd., Briarcliff, NY 10510.
