Donald Loyal Reynolds, Stay Awake-a-thon Fundraiser, Dies of Cancer at Age 64

Reynolds is the top fundraiser for the Hen Hud Leos Stay Awake-a-thon tonight.

Donald Reynolds lost his battle to pancreatic cancer this Wednesday, when he passed away peacefully with his friends and family at home. Reynolds was a caring and generous man who became this year's biggest fundraiser. His supporters had donated more than $5,500 in his name at the time of his death. In the last three days supporters have donated almost another $1,000.

The money will help send kids with cancer to summer camp and pay for cancer treatments at the for others.

"This is a testament to your kindness, generosity, and friendship that you have shown to others over the years. The world is a better place because of you," Stay Awake-a-thon founder Debbie Costello wrote in a about Reynolds the day he passed.

When you visit his fundraising page you can read all the heart-felt and loving messages his friends and families left in support of his fundraising efforts and urging him to win his fight with cancer. Sadly, he lost to the terrible disease, but his loved ones are determined to raise money for the Stay Awake-a-thon to help others win their battles.

"Don, I hope you can hear me from the lofty place I am sure you now sit," writes Steve Dicosolae on the Stay Awake fundraising page for Reynolds.  "You always thought first of others, and yourself last. Rest In Peace, My Friend, and for inspiration, may we all think of you, First."

The following is the obituary posted by the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Croton-on-Hudson:

Donald L Reynolds, 64, of Croton on Hudson, NY passed away peacefully at home with his family and close friends on May 2nd 2012.

He is the son of Gloria Stinehower and the late Loyal Reynolds. He was the beloved father of Veronica Reynolds and Nicole Reynolds. Gina Reynolds and her husband Marty Smith, Jr. and grandfather of Nathaniel. He is also survived by his former wife, Jo-Ann Reynolds,Stepmother, Grace Reynolds, Siblings; Russell Reynolds and Elizabeth Goldhorn. Donald served proudly in the US Air force, Retired from Metro North Railroad, and was a practicing Attorney at the time of his death.
He enjoyed Scuba Diving, Marathon running and spending time with his family and close friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 7th at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, 6 Old Post Rd. N., Croton-on-Hudson, NY.
