Door to Door....Go Away!

It’s spring time.....that means more people out and about....and it also means more people knocking on your door to sell you things that you don’t want.  Here are the top door to door solicitors in the area:

1. Energy groups
2. Cable services
3. Contractors
4. Religious Groups

How do you politely tell them to stop coming?  So that you don’t have to hide out in your house with the lights off?  Here are some ideas:

1. Buy or make one of those “NO SOLICITOR” signs.
2. Politely tell them the next time that they come that there is no need for them to “waste their time coming to your house because you just are not in the market” for whatever they are pushing.  This way it seems like you are looking out for their time instead of yours and you don’t have to worry about retaliation.  Be careful of saying, “not this time” because that implies that you may change your mind and have interest at a later time.  So don’t be afraid to be firm and stand your ground.  
3. Talk to your local council and Police people in charge.  If you are concerned about persistent door knockers, then chances are your neighbors are too.  Maybe as a community, you can all band together to get these people off your block.

 With the recent events in Boston, everyone is even more on point and aware of their surroundings to protect their home and families.
