Cortlandt Manor's Deb Carlin Polhill to Talk Loss, Holidays on Radio

New author Deb Carlin Polhill, a Cortlandt Manor resident whose 28-year-old daughter died suddenly in 2011, is offering some advice to folks who are grieving during the holidays.

Carlin Polhill will be a guest on local radio programs in the coming days. She recently released her first book, Love Honor Celebrate: A Mother’s Journey of Transition. It received lots of positive feedback locally

"I want to offer grieving parents an alternative to the notion of ‘moving on’ without their child, especially during the holidays," Carlin Polhill said. "Instead, I offer a different path of ‘moving forward with’ your loved one. The book explains how to keep your cherished loved one part of your family forever, while embracing the beauty in your sorrow. The spirit, the very soul of our child, is connected to us forever and always. My daughter was always a part of our holidays and will be a part of all future celebrations."

A "Kacey on the Radio" interview with Carlin Polhill is slated to air Friday (Dec. 6) at 9:30 a.m. on 1420 AM WLNA, and again Sunday at 6:30 a.m. on 100.7 FM WHUD. It will be posted on BlogTalkRadio.com, whud.com and kaceyontheradio.com.

A separate live interview with WLNA's Bruce Owens is scheduled for Monday (Dec. 9) at 7:20 and 7:50 a.m.

Carlin Polhill said the interviews came about after she reached out with a press release.

"...Kacey was the first to respond," she told Patch. "No surprise there. Kacey is a treasure in the Hudson Valley and takes every opportunity to share, what I like to call, love and light."

Carlin Polhill said her prayer is that "a phrase, poem or page may help someone else with their journey."
