The New York Line: The 2nd NY Regiment in The Revolutionary War

U.S. Army Reserve Colonel (Ret.) Joseph Cerreto of Montrose will present an interesting on-screen power point program with historic documents and pictures on the colorful role of 2nd New York--one of the oldest regiments to fight in the American Revolution.  A much-decorated U.S. Army veteran and active member of the present-day 2nd NY, Colonel Cerreto will tell the story--past and present--of this Continental Line Infantry Combat Unit that saw action all over New York State and the other original Colonies during the Revolutionary War.  Now part of the larger Brigade of the American Revolution, volunteer members of the 2nd NY currently carry on the regiment's heritage with great authenticity in their dress, drills and conduct during many re-enactments and parades throughout the Hudson Valley.  They will be involved in a military event on July 26-27th at the Stony Point Battlefield on the Hudson.

Sponsored by the Van Cortlandtville Historical Society, the May 17th program at The Little Red Schoolhouse in Cortlandft Manor is open free to the public.  The Schoolhouse is located next to Old Saint Peter's Church and Cemetery at the northern end of Locust Avenue, on the hill just south of Oregon Road in the Town of Cortlandt.  For more information, visit: www.vancort.net; or, call (914) 736-7868.
