Meetings, Flu Shots and Utility Hearings

Five things you should know for today, Jan. 14.

1.) Peekskill Common Council Meets Tonight
The Peekskill Common Council has a workshop and meeting scheduled tonight in city hall. The workshop is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Check here for a summary of the night’s agenda items.

2.) Cortlandt Work Session Scheduled for Tonight
The Town of Cortlandt has a work session scheduled tonight in town hall. The session begins at 7 p.m. Check here for more information.

3.) Flu Shots Available
Worried about that nasty flu bug circulating around the country. Flu shots are available from your doctor and at many neighborhood pharmacies. Visit http://health.westchestergov.com/  or http://www.putnamcountyny.com/health/
to find out where to get your flu shots.

4.) Public Hearing on Utility Commission Scheduled this Month
The Moreland Commission on Utility Storm Preparation and Response scheduled a public hearing to solicit comments from residents in Westchester, Putnam and Rockland Counties on Thursday, January 24. The hearing begins at 6 p.m. at the SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center at 735 Anderson Hill Road in Purchase. Community members can also submit testimony before or after the hearing at comments@moreland.ny.gov.

5.) Apply to Be a Westchester County Park Ranger
The Westchester County Department of Public Safety is accepting applications for seasonal park rangers to patrol county parks this summer. Applications are due by Feb. 22 and are available online at the Department of Public Safety’s web pages: http://www.westchestergov.com/ps. To qualify, applicants must be a high school graduate, at least 19, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Westchester County and possess a valid New York State driver’s license by the time of appointment. Accepted candidates are required attend a two-week training program at the Westchester County Police Academy.
