3. 5K Walk/Run for Heroes

The 5K Run/Walk for Heroes is sponsored by the Peekskill American Legion and supports Operation Comfort Warriors. The American Legion is encouraging community members to register for $20 for the June 9 event. Check in begins at 9 a.m. and the walk/run starts at 10 a.m. at 1024 McKinley Street, Peekskill, NY, 10566. This year they are raffling off a new iPad2. Sign up for the event here.

4. Town Board Work Session

The Cortlandt Town Board will hold a work session at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.

5. Junteenth Parade            

The 2nd Annual Juneteenth event is less than two weeks away. Juneteenth commemorates the date when slaves in Texas learned that slavery had been abolished and it is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.

The parade will be held on June 16, will begin on Park Street and proceed north on Broad Street, west on Main Street, south on Nelson Avenue, west on Central Avenue, and end at Central Avenue and Washington Street, with participants walking to the Lincoln Depot on Water Street.
