Budget Talks, PAPA Appeal and Meditation

Five things you should know for today, Nov. 26.



1.) Peekskill Common Council to Discuss Budget Changes
The Peekskill Common Council will unveil the changes it has made to acting City Manager Brian Havranek’s $35.6 million budget proposal during tonight’s meeting. A list of the Common Council’s changes can be found in the PDF attached to this story. The meeting is scheduled to take place 7:30 p.m. inside Peekskill city hall, located on 840 Main St. in Peekskill.

2.) Cortlandt Town Board Workshop Set for Tonight
The Town of Cortlandt has a workshop scheduled tonight at town hall, located at 1 Heady St. in Cortlandt Manor. The workshop begins at 7:30 p.m.

3.) PAPA Begins Annual Appeal
The Peekskill Area Pastors Association is appealing to the community for donations so that it can continue its. The association works closely to support organizations such as Caring for the Homeless of Peekskill, the Jan Peeks Shelter, Hudson River Health Care, the Sunny Doughnut breakfast program and Fred's Pantry at St. Peter's Church. Anyone who wants to make a contribution to the Peekskill Area Pastors Association can make checks payable to "PAPA" and send them to P.O. Box 282, Peekskill, NY 10566.

4.) Weekend Murder Arrest
Sunil Williams, 29, of Mount Vernon, was arrested Friday after he allegedly a stabbed a 23-year-old City of Peekskill earlier in the day. He was arraigned on the charge of second-degree murder Saturday and is currently awaiting a future court date in Westchester County Jail.

5.) Ganesha Spa to Host Kundalini Meditation
The Ganesha Spa is hosting an Kundalini meditation created by enlightened master OSHO from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The meditation is designed to remove energy blocks. Ganesha Spa is located on 15 Depew Ct. in Peekskill. Call 914-906-7238 to register.
