Youth doing great things in our community

Local Youth find so many ways to give back

The Hen Hud Leos have been hard at work over the past few months, and I wanted to share with you some of the great things they have done!

Last month, the Hen Hud Leos celebrated their 5 Year Anniversary as an organization.

In the past 5 years, these wonderful kids have donated almost 5,000 hours of community service to helping others. This includes things such as serving food at the veterans holiday party, several trips to NYC to feed the homeless, raising over $250,000 for cancer related causes, helping out at guiding eyes for the blind, running a "healing autism dog parade", and helping out at walkathons including Support Connection, Suicide Prevention, the Harry Chapin run against hunger, and light the night walk's for Lukemia.

Last month, at the Cortlandt Town Board meeting, these wonderful students presented Happiness is Camping, a camp for kids with cancer, a check for $29,000!

It's so heartwarming to know that our youth are doing great things- and their acts of kindness help so many. Today's youth are tomorrow's leaders...and we are blessed that we have raised so many young adults who are civic minded and understand the importance of giving back who will be leading us into the future.

Over the next few weeks, I hope to spotlight some of the great things they are doing. Stay tuned!
