Visions for Vacancies: Space in Downtown Peekskill

Let's call this a modern spin on community planning; a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

We present a vacant space or property and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon that puts many people to sleep. What would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

The first installment generated dozens of comments, and as did subsequent posts on the former Lakeland Sleep Shop and two Cortlandt Manor buildings. Now we're hoping you'll weigh in on the space that sits at the corner of Main and North Division streets.

It's close to Baxter's Pharmacy, the Birdsall House, Kathleen's Tea Room, Prudential River Towns Real Estate, Sav-Mor Discount Auto Parts and more. A nail salon and several eateries are also nearby.

So, Peekskill and Cortlandt folks, the question is: What would you like to see in that space?

Please leave your thoughts here.
