Indian Point Troubleshooting Shutdown

Entergy operators shut the Unit 3 nuclear power plant July 29 to work on a valve problem.

Entergy reports that control room operators shut down the Unit 3 nuclear power plant at Indian Point Monday morning to go after a troublesome valve.

In a press release, Entergy spokesman Jerry Nappi said, "The valve, located on the nonnuclear side of the plant, was responding incorrectly to controls and operators made the decision to shut down the plant in order to further troubleshoot the problem..."

Nappi said there was no release of radioactivity and no threat to the safety of workers or the public.
