Gleason’s Preparing for Grand Opening Aug. 31

South Street restaurant and bar is currently serving Peekskill on a limited basis.

Gleason’s, the newest addition to the Peekskill dining scene, is open for business on a limited basis and is looking forward to its grand opening at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31.

The restaurant and bar at 911 South St. has been renovated by the owners of the .

They plan to focus on beer, meat and utilizing local ingredients, as they do at the 2-year-old Birdsall, but will offer mostly flatbread pizzas. The location, which formerly housed Ciro’s Italian restaurant, is two blocks from John Sharp and Tim Reinke’s Birdsall House, a popular restaurant and bar on Main Street.

Sharp and Reinke have partnered with Bryan Delaney and Damian Collemo to open Gleason’s, named after comedian Jackie Gleason, who once lived nearby in Cortlandt.

Gleason’s is currently open 5 p.m. to midnight Tuesday through Saturday. Lunches and a seven-day-a-week schedule will follow the grand opening.
