The 125th Anniversary Celebration of The Field Library

You are invited to the 125th Anniversary Celebration of The Field Library on Sunday afternoon, September 9, 2012, from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. (rain or shine) on the lovely Hudson River estate of Monteverde at Oldstone.  Friends and family will enjoy a beautiful afternoon on these historic grounds, the lovely home of Pierre Van Cortlandt built in 1760 on a bluff overlooking the sweeping river and Peekskill Bay! 

As part of our 125th historic anniversary theme, we will also be honoring the "Historic Family Businesses of Peekskill" with the 18th annual Chester A. Smith Awards at 2 p.m. on the terrace.  Help us celebrate the distinguished family businesses of N. Dain’s Sons, Arthur Weeks & Son Jewelry, D. Bertoline & Sons, E.O. Curry Funeral Home, Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home, Nardone Brothers Furniture, the Scaramellino Family Restaurants, Sandy Poritzky Meats, and Enterprise Press. 

Majestic lawns provide a perfect backdrop for a display of local artwork and sculpture.  Literary, spoken word and music will be performed in the intimate stone grape arbor. Hors d'oeuvres and wine served on the sweeing patio with tours of the mansion.  Local musicians perform during the afternoon, there will be a children’s tent, games and a strolling magician!  Free transportation from the library to Monteverde will be available on "Stella," Peekskill's newly restored trolley.  Be sure to bring your children to help us celebrate this signature event of the year for The Field Library!
