Your Weekend: Cortlandt Celebration, Jazz and Blues and More

There are tons of ways to keep busy around Cortlandt and Peekskill this weekend, and we're here to help you decide which happenings are for you.

Here are the details for three great events. Scroll down to the end of this article for information on a few more.

Town of Cortlandt's 225th Anniversary Celebration
When: 3 p.m. Sunday (July 28)
Where: George's Island in Montrose
Why go? The town is celebrating a big birthday, and what better way to recognize it than fireworks, food, games, prizes and much more? Park at the Cortlandt train station, hop on a shuttle bus and have fun with fellow community members.

Open Days Program Garden Tour
When: 10 a.m. Sunday (July 28)
Where: The Merrin Garden (2547 Maple Avenue in Cortlandt Manor)
Why go? You'll get to see private gardens in Bedford Hills and Cortlandt Manor—think a lotus pond, rare tropical plants in greenhouses and formal vegetable parterre. Admission is $5.

A Trolley Ride With a Kick!
When? 5 p.m. Sunday (July 28)
Where? Water Street (board the trolley there, behind Dylan's Wine Cellar in the commuter parking lot)
Why go? This event is not a single activity, but three-in-one: a historic trolley ride, wine tasting and a concert at West Point. Organizers say it "really is a midsummer night's dream." Cost is $25 per person.
