Peekskill Community Garden to See New Shed

About 30 campers will spruce up the Peekskill Community Garden Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The activity will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The youngsters— who are in seventh, eighth and ninth grade, and come from the Service Corps program at YMCA Camp Combe in Putnam Valley—will focus on building a new shed, as well as planting and weeding.

"Lumber for the new shed has been generously provided by Build It Green! NYC's Big!Blooms program," organizers said in this Facebook post. "Build it Green!NYC is NYC’s only non-profit retail outlet for salvaged and surplus building materials dedicated to supporting environmental initiatives in and around the city."

Organizers are hoping local folks will come by and lend a hand.

The garden is located on Route 6 in Peekskill, near the Beach Shopping Center.
