Celebrating Mohegan Lake Day Sunday July 14, 2013

July 3, 2013  ----   Residents living in Mohegan Lake are gearing up for their annual Lake Day, a traditional day celebrating the lake's long history and its ongoing vitality in the Yorktown community. The public is invited to the festivities which include boat races, music, guided walking trails, a water quality presentation and ending with a pot luck dinner, an outdoor movie while Chinese lanterns float on the lake. The event is sponsored by the Mohegan Lake Improvement District and the RAIN DATE IS JULY 21, 2013.

Lake Day honors Mohegan Lake's great historical significance seen in archeological finds of ancient Mohigan Indian arrowheads, it's geographical importance during the Revolutionary War, the growing farmer community in the 19th century and the lake's allure for early 20th century resorts and summer inns.
