Troopers Report 3 Incidents of Theft in Cortlandt

State police from the Cortlandt barracks have released information on three incidents of theft that occurred in town. Here are the details:

  • A 24-year-old Buchanan woman was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, and trespassing, a violation, after she allegedly left Kohl's department store with merchandise she hadn't paid for. The incident took place at about 4:10 p.m. Sunday, and the store's loss prevention team stopped the woman, who officials say had previously been arrested for stealing from the business. She was reportedly given a warning that she was not to return or she would face a trespassing charge. The defendant is due in Cortlandt Justice Court Sept. 27.
  • Two 22-year-old men, one from Mohegan Lake and the other Peekskill, are accused of sneaking into the United Artists Movie Theater in Cortlandt without paying. Troopers arrested them at about 1 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 21). Each was charged with misdemeanor theft of services pending court appearances.
  • Police charged a 61-year-old Mohegan Lake man with misdemeanor petty larceny in connection with a theft that occurred at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 21) at the local ShopRite. Authorities say the man concealed the items as he made his way toward the exit. He was due in court Monday.
