Shed Coming Along at Peekskill Community Garden

The shed at the Peekskill Community Garden is nearing completion.

About 30 youngsters from Camp Combe YMCA in Putnam Valley helped build the structure's foundation last week [see attached video].

Joann Boniello, one of the garden's organizers, said her husband John Boniello has been working on it since then.

"...Just the roof needs to be finished, then paint and a door," Joann wrote in an email to Patch Tuesday. She said donations, such as tools or a solid door, would be appreciated.

Garden members--who rent a plot for the season--will have access to the shed, where they may store tools and other items.

As of last week, 16 of the plots were taken. Most folks are growing edible items, from garlic to herbs to tomatoes.

The garden, which is in its second season, is located on Route 6 in Peekskill, near the Beach Shopping Center. For more information, visit peekskillcommunitygardens.com.
