The Peekskill City School District was formed in the 1930s when the Oakside and Drum Hill districtsMore combined. </p> <p>Peekskill City School District has five public schools - Woodside, for students pre-kindegarten through first grade students;  Oakside, grades two and three and Hillcrest, grades 4 and 5; - Peekskill middle school, grades 6-9 and Peekskill high school, 9-12 grade. </p> <p>The School District building was originally used as the Peekskill Military Acadamy building.  It boasts a well-maintained auditorium and old gymnasium that is still used today. </p> <p>There are about 200 students per grade, with a total of 800 in the high school and 600 in the middle school. </p>

A brand new, state-of-the-art Peekskill Middle School was opened in 2009 on Ringgold Avenue. The school's approximatelyMore 600 students have access to Wi-Fi throughout the building. Each team has its own wing and every grade is assigned its own guidance counselor. The school also has a pool and passing the swimming test is a requirement for graduation. The school offers a Learning Enrichment Activities Program (LEAP) component as well, which encourages learning in a project environment.
