Reynolds is the top fundraiser for the Hen Hud Leos Stay Awake-a-thon tonight.
Donald Reynolds lost his battle to pancreatic cancer this Wednesday, when he passed away peacefully with his friends and family at home. Reynolds was a caring and generous man who became this year's Stay Awake-a-thon's biggest fundraiser. His supporters had donated more than $5,500 in his name at the time of his death. In the last three days supporters have donated almost another $1,000. The money will help send kids with cancer to summer camp and pay for cancer treatments at the Hudson Valley Hospital Cancer Center for others. Jean Claude Linteau of Ossining, NY died on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. He was 76 years old. Generations of Ossining High School students will fondly remember Claude, who worked as the high school's custodian from 1962 - 1998. He retired in 1998 to care for his then ailing wife, Ellen, whom he had married on Febraury 27, 1970. He was born in Donnecanna, Quebec, Canada on October 24, 1935. His wife, Ellen Churchill (nee Ellen Veronica Reynolds) died on February 25, 2001, after sharing 31 years of married life together. Mrs. Linteau's first husband, David Churchill, died on January 22, 1965.Claude, despite his vision problems, loved to walk all over the village of Ossining. Safety review planned after fatal April 13 accident; funeral Mass Thursday.
John E. Fischer II, a Peekskill sanitation worker who suffered head injuries when he fell from a garbage truck April 13, died Monday at Westchester Medical Center. The Peekskill Common Council observed a moment of silence for Fischer at the start of its meeting Monday night and offered condolences to his family and friends. Fischer, who turned 40 last week, would have marked his 10-year anniversary as a city employee in December 2012. The city is planning a safety review in the wake of the “sad accident,” Mayor Mary Foster told The Journal News in a story published today. Friends and family are mourning the loss of their 20-year-old loved one.
After more than a day of praying and hoping for 20-year-old Cortlandt resident Valon Rraci to recover from critical injuries suffered in a car accident Monday, friends and family were shocked to lose their loved one Tuesday, according to comments on social media and news sites. Over the last day and a half, family and friends have been tweeting messages of support to each other and promoting the hashtags #staystrongvalon and #prayforvalon. People's comments on twitter and on Patch convey that many people clearly loved and cared for Rraci and suffered first over his critical condition, and are now mourning his death. Kevin Townes died of an apparent heart attack.
Westchester firefighters today mourn the loss of one of their own, 54-year-old Mount Vernon firefighter Kevin Townes, who died of an apparent heart attack at the scene of a house fire this morning. Townes, a 25-year veteran of the fire department, was one of more than 20 firefighters who raced to the scene of a fire early this morning on Lorraine Avenue. Fire officials said Townes collapsed suddenly and died at Mount Vernon Hospital despite efforts to revive him. Officials noted that Townes had recently passed a mandatory physical exam and city officials said the married father of three children was one of the city's outstanding firefighters. Michael David Palmer, 47, most recently of Pennington, NJ, passed away suddenly in Princeton, NJ on October 9, 2011. Michael was born on July 11, 1964 in Peekskill, NY and was a 1982 graduate of Peekskill High School. Michael was an alumnus of Pace University, where he received his Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Master in Public Administration degrees in 1995 and 1997 respectively. Michael was a longtime resident of the Peekskill-Cortlandt area, and was employed for many years by Westchester ARC in Hawthorne, NY.
