What are you talking about?? Some esoteric figure that you mined on some weird cite? Who do youRead More think 'subsidizes 'we' drivers? Please dont say 'government'--when its us drivers that are paying all the gas taxes, sales taxes on cars, income taxes , tolls, registrations/licenses / speeding tickets etc. You wanna know what is subsidized? The labor unions that are able to charge 6-10 times labor rates as compared to construction/ lawn/ etc/ Ask how much a grass cutter makes when working for the dept of public works--and then ask what a normal private citizen pays on a per hour basis. Or ask what your local landscaper pays his workers? Cost is a bad basis to describe subsidies on. These politicians who get their kickbacks and favors in exchange for screwing the taxpayer/driver is what should be addressed. But in any event --why not tell me who subsidizes drivers ,so I can have a good laugh.
ahblid May 19, 2013 at 02:14 pm
Porter, I'm talking about the fact that we drivers only manage to cover 42% of the cost of ourRead More highways. The rest of the $202 Billion spent on highways in this country in 2010 was a subsidy, or public assistance. If we drivers were actually fully paying for our highways directly, trains wouldn't need public assistance.
Porter Gladstone III May 19, 2013 at 01:17 pm
ahblid what public assistance are you talking about for cars? try to make sense.

Mike u sound delusional. Did you lay the bricks yourself from your head? I posted that I may buy itRead More if it CAME with a security guard. And realtors from Yonkers? WTF r u talking about?
Mike May 18, 2013 at 10:04 pm
what are you guys realtors from yonkers? i can read through those posts a little too easily.Read More cardboard? you couldn't afford one day's labor to HAVE the BRICKS PUT UP. Security guard? I'm sorry but when we have another position open we will let you know richie!

The exterior looks as though the house is made of cardboard, and the interior is as cold andRead More uninviting as any I've ever seen. Who would want to live in such a place?

It is dangerous and a menace to our already horrible traffic on 6. Thank God none of those kids gotRead More hit running in between cars looking for change. Traffic was backed up all through Mohegan...Poor choice of a way to raise monies for a good cause.

I know for a fact that the security guy in khols bedford hills steals merchandise himself. SomeoneRead More should look into that.
NoisyNeighbor May 18, 2013 at 12:18 pm
I agree - everything is so inexpensive there and they give good deals. I was actually at theRead More register late one evening a family with kids was waiting for the rest of the family to check out. The family waiting had the audacity to take mechandise from the rack and bag men's sports clothes while no one was watching. Right in front of young kids. Really messed up!

May be the police can crack down on organizations collecting monies at traffic lights. One thisRead More morning in front of Cortland Town Center and the light at Society Hill. It is panhandling by organizations and it causes more traffic and it very unsafe. I live in Society Hill and it seems like every weekend there is fireman at the bottom of the hill with the "boot" for collections. It is annoying I have to see same people every time I go out. Have a legitimate fund raiser and get your money that way....

For all of you in support of a Meth Clinic I spoke to 4 police officer and 2 State Troopers that allRead More said not a good thing for any community. I wonder why?? to all the supporters. Look at that Renaissance Project in Ellenville Security Guard killed and nurse was almost stabbed to dealth with months of recovery in a hospital. Many said oh if it wasn't for a Meth Clinic I wouldn't have made it. Oh FYI many in treatment 10 plus years obviously it isn't working folks. In defense of Mr. Catalina I guess we need to ask Mary Foster exactly how much this Article 78 cost in full and sure we will have our answer. Atty fees are astronomical if I knew we could beat this I would pay my fair share in taxes for the future of Peekskill. Unfotunately I don't believe everyone is willing to do that in these tough econonic times.
Robin Seggs May 18, 2013 at 11:02 pm
I get that Mr. catalina blames the current mayor for this situation but This is what I dontRead More understand. He finishes by saying that as a Lawyer he would not support an appeal to the court decision. so what would he do? IF Mayor, what would catalina do about the clinic? i cant believe he wrote that much and never said what his plan to address the issue is.

Look who's talking : we have always said we wanted it to remain at HVHC why don't you call Mr.Read More Federspiel and ask him why he is dumping it in a undesirable area that will immensely affect the businesses, real estate, dangerous roads and community at large. You know as well as everyone else he doesn't want it there to tarnish his newly renovated beautiful complex. Ask him how much he is making off his other services. 200 K in the business world is a drop in the bucket. I bet you $10 all those patients that said I am going to contact he didn't even do so. So you are telling me this patients are law abiding citizens? Doubt it I know many people that have confided in me and said their sons, daughters, brother ,sisters have lied cheated stolen, and done time. Guess we will all see what happens in this community. Remember there are kids that will be walking to school. It is going to take one incident to wake up people.

"Concerned Parent I have recently seen groups hanging out on street corners like I did duringRead More the late 80's" LOOSE DOGS too. People are letting their pit bulls and other dogs romp around. From what I gather many people don't even know there is a leash law. Others who know about the laws just flip them off. Kids are going to start getting bit bad again
W Kelly May 18, 2013 at 08:06 am
Concerned Parent I have recently seen groups hanging out on street corners like I did during theRead More late 80's. PPD better get a grip on this situation ASAP before it begins to be a common place occurrance. Thanks for mentioning I wrote to C Johansen. Sorry folks for getting off the subject. This is an important issue in any case.
Peter Goodson May 17, 2013 at 07:15 pm
Wendy you have been right on the money with this issue since it started. You and your organizationRead More were correct in pointing out how Foster, Klaxton, Rigger and the rest have tried to fool the community that they were fighting this. They also have no problem wasting tens of thousands of dollars to perpetuate their ruse. Don't forget, their political buddy Ruth Wells (dem party offiicer and former council candidate) is on the board of the homeless shelter and vice chair of the Planning Commission. The entire commission are their appointees. Of course they all knew what was going on. They even through their own friends under the bus. One even resigned in disgust. They will appeal to keep the ruse going as a means of deflecting for the election. It is essential the residents of northern Peekskill that this administration did this to them. Foster and the council put citizen safety at risk all for the political funds and support they gain from those involved. Disgraceful.

They have rushed the opening and their lineup is far from any the Paramount booked. The way itRead More looks to me is, those people holding tickets from Paramount shows that were cancelled will not have their tickets honored nor will money be refunded. I have 2 tickets from the cancelled Abba show. Personally, I do not want to waste my good tickets on any of the scheduled shows coming up. Anybody else feel the same? Share your thoughts.

I agree with Juan! The Capitol in Portchester waited to get things together and opened with BobRead More friggen Dylan! I would say that is a step up from the Sisters of Graymore, Daisy J and Gary US Bonds. The Jazz and Blues sounds weak also, I thought the BID was paying for it - get the old guy back to run it like Juan said.

With the removal of the section that shows the comments on the various articles that used to beRead More right on the front page, it looks like conversations re being discouraged. This article may explain Obama's HUD's push for the public-private developer partnerships inRead More exchange for campaign donations which are at work in our county: http://washingtonexaminer.com/chapter-iii-the-1997-speech-that-launched-obama/article/2508419#.UZd6I8u9KSM

Jo, Pound Ridge does have affordable housing, but for the sake of the county's Consent Agreement,Read More the towns are not parties to it and have no obligations under it.
David May 17, 2013 at 09:31 pm
This is being pushed by Obama's HUD. Obama's presidency and legitimacy are on the line now, withRead More shocking revelations about Benghazi, and the IRS targeting his political opponents. The NY Times says his administration knew about the IRS stuff five months before the election. This is the man pushing our county to sue our town. Let him first defend himself on the enormous charges against him. He has done far worse than he even accuses us of doing, but maybe I am wrong, let him clear his name, probably via Watergate-style hearings. I am sure he would welcome the opportunity. ;) In the meantime, it's time for us to stand our ground. We have every right to do so. I do not want my County suing my Town. If it happens, I will support a tax increase within my Town for full and vigorous defense against such a suit. We do not discriminate; anyone can buy any house here if they can afford it. Mr. Astorino, please do not submit to this pressure for the sake of CDBG money. Principle is important, and our local system of government is extremely important.
