Hillary is better than anybody the GOP has to run. Romney lost because the TEA PARTY screamed thatRead More most Americans are lazy, greedy users. You can't slander the voting public and expect to win. You can't tell black people that they live on the plantation, or that young people are stupid, you can't call gay Americans the worst names and threaten to put discrimination in the Constitution, you can't force a women to maintain a pregnancy after they are raped, you can't call people wetbacks, scream about English being national language with the insinuation that immigrants are not welcome, you can't scream that our first President of color is not American and push wild conspiracy theories, and you can't call Muslim Americans ragheads & terrorists. Compared to the other clown-car characters in the GOP primaries, Romney wasn't even a bad candidate, by GOP-standards. He lost for the same reason the last GOP candidate lost. He was leaning to far right, without need. He should have been more open and should have not so shamelessly pandered to the right-wing GGG (God, Guns, and Gynecology) crowd, He also should have picked a different running mate. Romney was the poster child for plutocracy, but it only fair to admit that he, at one point, has introduced more liberal legislation than Obama. His health care reform and his assault weapons ban (hello, NRA, he was the anti-gun candidate) went far. The GOP has to learn that the USA is no longer a center-right country, and has to do some house-cleaning. Do away with the old concrete-heads like McConnell, Priebus, Ryan, and Boehner, who have been reanimating the same idiotic talking points even after an epic defeat. The GOP needs to move a little to the center, compromise more, stop suppressing women and immigrants, and stop the pseudo-religious hate-lingo, or they'll just keep losing.

JM - That's right!! The uber-liberal LoHud would be correct. Right-sizing piggishly rich benefitRead More and pension programs mean give-ups by those receiving them. You don't have to be a math wiz to get the numbers on this. If you pay NOTHING toward your health benefits and now I ask you to pay 10%, you are giving up some income. Most Americans in the PRIVATE sector would do anything to work for a company that pays 90% of the cost of their healthcare benefit costs and gives them a piggishly rich pension. The pension needs to be terminated, as many companies have done, and converted to a 401(k) like all the rest of us have in the REAL world.
jeff meyer April 22, 2014 at 06:28 pm
NYP, Most Americans in the private sector would be better served if they were unionized. DecentRead More health care and a DBP pension are the results of a union job. That is why the JETBLUE pilots voted to unionize today according to the Wall Street Journal. In the REAL world workers should organize and negotiate in the collective bargaining process. There is strength in organizing. JM Tuckahoe, NY
sawyer1952@aol.com April 23, 2014 at 09:25 am
Perhaps everyone should reread this article without predjudice. The union workers know that payingRead More for health care is a given BUT look at the salary increases - 0%, 0%, 2% and 2% - this means that workers will be getting paid LESS in order to cover their health benefits. A salary drop of 6% at least. ALl the union wants is fair wage for fair work. A 4% increase over 4 years and a 10% reduction for benefits doesn't make sense.

That Newsmax article constantly says this is a way to circumvent the Constitution. But since theRead More Constitution grants states the right to award their EC votes any way they want, this is perfectly legal. A state could decide to award its EC votes based on a contest. As far as I'm concerned, the Journal News or anyone else has no right to stick their busy-body noseRead More in my business. If the journal News says they will not publish the names of pistol-permit holders as they have already done in the past, then why do they want or need to have the information in the first place.
