The Peekskill Museum occupies the former historic Herrick House, one of the oldest Victorian houses in Peekskill. In 2010 the museum celebrated its formal opening after extensive renovations to the historic building.

The house was donated in 1944 to the Peekskill Field Library for the purposes of becoming a museum. Today, as a nonprofit organization with the goal of preserving its historic value, the museum relies on bequeathments, gifts and corporate and individual donations, as well as volunteers.

The museum is an educational resource providing historical artifacts on exhibit at the museum through both temporary and permanent exhibits, including significant Revolutionary War artifacts on display.

The museum also hosts special events, including music and educational-related talks given by visiting historians.

You can call the museum to arrange for special tours. Note that very inexpensive memberships are offered to individuals and families, as well as to corporations.
