Rwandan Genocide Survivor Coming to Peekskill

Rwandan genocide survivor Immaculee Ilibagiza, an author and motivational speaker who's been featured on several well-known television programs, will visit the Church of the Assumption in Peekskill this Sunday.

"Her story of survival and forgiveness is extremely compelling," said Audrey Warn, the church's director of advancement.

Ilibagiza's family was killed during the 1994 genocide. She avoided death by hiding in a small bathroom—with seven women—for 91 days. She's has recounted her experience on The Oprah Winfrey Show, CBS This Morning and CNN.

The event starts at 2:15 p.m. Sunday. It's free and open to the public. Call 914-737-0680, extension 210, for more information.
