Authentic Louisiana Zydeco Music
When? 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 18)
Where? The Red Schoolhouse, 220 6th Street in Verplanck
Why go? How often do you get to hear this type of live music—a mix of blues and rhythm and blues with a heavy dose of Cajun—locally? Musician Jeffery Broussard will mix in some R&B, too. Dance lessons are available for those who come early (5:30).
When? 5 to 11 p.m. Friday (Aug. 16), noon to 11 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 17) and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 18)
Where? Brown Street, Division Street and Park Street (Bank
parking lot to Division) in Peekskill
Why go? Organizers say this is the largest Italian feast in Westchester. In years past it's drawn more than 25,000. Expect everything from "roaming" Italian accordion players and street bands to delicious food and dessert.
Standup Comedy at The Beanrunner Cafe
When? 7 p.m. Sunday
Where? The Beanrunner Cafe at 201 South Division Street in Peekskill
Why go? Wrap up your weekend with a good laugh as several "up and coming comedians and seasoned professionals" take the stage.
