If You Go: Juneteenth Parade and Celebration

The 4th annual Peekskill Juneteenth Parade & Celebration kicks off June 21 with a parade that winds down to the waterfront for a festival.  

Grand Marshals:

  • Tré Johnson - Former NFL Player & Teacher at Landon School
  • Maxine O’Connor - Retiring Assistant Superintendent of Schools

Here's the parade route: Park Street to Broad Street, to Main; Main Street to Division Street to South Street.

South Street will be temporarily closed between Smith and Grove streets upon completion of the Parade, police said.

There will be no parking on Park—or along the parade route.

The festival begins at 4 p.m. on the waterfront.

Juneteenth, the oldest and longest running African American celebration in U.S. history, marks the date when our nation’s last remaining slaves learned that slavery had been abolished. It was celebrated in Peekskill for the first time in 2011.
