This year marks the 35th anniversary of the New York Renaissance Faire in Sterling Forest, which opens today and runs through Sept. 23.
The Faire, located in Tuxedo off Route 17, creates an Elizabethan English village, where costumed performers immerse themselves into their roles as knights and maidens.
Besides lots of food and drink, the Faire features jousting tournaments, acrobatics, magicians, jugglers, swashbuckling pirates, a Living Chess Match and special shows.
There are games and a marketplace featuring more than 100 artisans offering the handmade crafts, jewelry and toys.
