Rec League BBall Report: Peekskill-Cortlandt Daily Sports Digest Feb. 10

Pee Wee Boys Division

In a well played game by both teams, Ellias Ettihir sank the winning basket with just under 30 seconds remaining in the contest. The final score was Hornets 15 and the Hawks 13. 

Jaelyn Norman Thomas and Jaron Reed came up with big baskets in the 4th quarter as well. Thomas ended up with 4 points while Reed had 3. Leading the way for the victors was Joshua McCrae with 6 points. DeJawn White was the game’s leading scorer with 8 points while Alex Williams scored 4. Joshua Allen recorded a point.

With the scored tied at 10 at the end of the 3rd quarter, Jameek Allen of the Eagles caught fire with 8 fourth quarter points to lead his team to an 18-13 victory over the Cardinals. Allen totaled 12 points for the game with help coming from Tyrell Bradshaw with 5 and Jaden Walters 1.

Myles Walker, of the Cardinals, turned in another solid game with 11 points. Tyler Defillippo scored a bucket for his team. Jordan Wilson controlled the boards for the Eagles enabling his team to stay closed and eventually winning the game.

Leading the Cardinals on the stat sheet was Malachi McDonald with 4 blocks, Matthew Torres and Kendall Cousins with numerous rebounds, and Anthony Turner recording 4 assists. Jason Curillo and Kevin Lojano did the dirty work with both coming away with 2 steals each.

 

Girls Division

The Fireballs were on fire, just like their name as they jumped out to an early lead against the Kit Kats and never looked back. The final score was Fireballs 22 and the Kit Kats 8. Jodi Glickert led the way with 8 points for the Fireballs while Rachel Guzman Jones scored 6. Jordyn Alston scored 4 as did Nayeli Cardenas. Alissa Thompson scored all of her team’s 8 points.

The Gumdrops and Skittles played a very exciting overtime game with the Gumdrops coming out on top 18-17. The game came down to an shoot out in overtime with both teams taking 5 foul shots each.

Heather Guzman was the last player to shoot for the Gumdrops as she sank her free throw giving her team the victory. Nicole Mitchell made the other foul shot for the Gumdrops.

Sandra Murphy played a good all around game as she led her team with 8 points and great defense. Mitchell had 5 points while Akua Yeboah sank 4. For the Skittles, Francesca Snipes and Niya Fields each had 6 points while Tatyanna Arceneaux and Adrianna Parks had 3 and 2 points for the Skittles.

 

Cub Boys Division

The Red Storm defeated the Blue Knights 24-15 behind the play of Isaiah Walker who scored a season high 17 points. Theodore Morris had a solid game with 7 points of his own. Leading the charge for the Blue Knights was Marcus Ruff with 6 points. Joprdan Hill tallied 4 while Xavier Santiago had 3 and Jordan Faulkner scored 2.

The Stetson Hatters outscored the Tarheels in the 4th quarter 10 to 5 enabling them to pull out a 28-25 victory. Scoring for the victors were Edward Sanchez with 11, Charles Lovett with 9, Darius Snipes with 6 and Raheem Moore with 2.

Seven players broke into the scoring column for the Tarheels led Kyle Moran’s 7 and Chandler Kall’s 6 points. Ronald Scott scored 4 while scoring 2 points each was Nasir Williamson, Christian Pitaccia, Ryan Travis and Daquan Wilson.

 

Wrestling

's wrestling team has enjoyed a fine winter and rightfully so is ranked as the No. 10 squad in Division 1 according to the LoHud Wrestling Blog.
