Winter teams get started this week

If you are wondering why there has been a buzz in the air this week, it's because the Peekskill, Hendrick Hudson and Walter Panas High School varsity and JV winter teams all began practice (except for ice hockey, which began Nov. 7) on Nov. 14 for their upcoming winter seasons.

Peekskill's Jones plays for Syracuse

Former Peekskill standout Mookie Jones, who helped lead Peekskill to three state titles in boys basketball, is a junior forward on the Syracuse University men's basketball squad.

Syracuse, 3-0, will host Colgate at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 and then play in the NIT Season Tip Off at Madison Square Garden Nov. 23 and 25.

Cortlandt's 9-year-old's enjoy winning season

The Cortlandt 9-year-old squad of the Westchester Putnam Baseball Association finished 7-5 this fall.
