The Peekskill girls varsity basketball team won the Class A State Championship last night with a landslide victory of 58-35.

The Peekskill girls varsity basketball team defeated Averill Park in Class A State Championship 58-35, becoming the first girls sports team to win that title in Peekskill High School history.

Peekskill was led by Sheridan Taylor, Jazmin Garcia and Tasia Nolan who had 20, 17, and 14 points respectively.  Asia Jackson was named tournament Most Valuable Player, Taylor was named to the all-tournament team and Dottie Bradshaw earned the tourney's sportsmanship award following the championship game at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY Saturday night.

The team was escorted into town by the fire department and there was a pep rally at the high school afterward where the team and the school celebrated this historic win.
