Welcome to Patch's daily snapshot of sports in Peekskill and Cortlandt.

Girls Lax

The Lakeland/Panas girls lacrosse squad has enjoyed tremendous success as it has won the last five Section 1 Class A championships under coach Sharon Sarsen.

Now the No. 1 Rebels are one win away from making it six straight championships after they won their Section 1 Class A semifinal game against No. 4 Mamaroneck 24-16 Monday afternoon at Walter Panas High School according to Chris Perez' post on the LoHud Girls Lacrosse Blog.

Lakeland/Panas' Alexa Bonnes was on fire and to say that is the understatement of the year to be honest, as she tallied 11, that's right we said 11, goals to go along with one assist against the Tigers.

Teammates Molly Fitzpatrick and Emma Bozek each registered four goals apiece.

To see photos of this game, check out Isaac Cass' great work on MSG Varsity.

Cass also reported on his twitter page that the Rebels' 24 goals were the most in program history. The program started in 1985.

He also reported that Bonnes' 11 goals broke the previous Rebels' record of 10, which Bozek originally set in a 19-14 win over Bronxville.

The Rebels are now scheduled to play No. 2 North Rockland in an battle of unbeatens on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Suffern Middle School for the Class A title.

The Class B (7 p.m.) and C (3 p.m.) championship games are also scheduled for that day at the same location.

Keep in mind, semifinal games in those classes were moved back to today because of the weather so there is a chance that the championship games in all classes may be moved back as well so check with the Lakeland School District for the latest before heading out to Rockland County on Wednesday.

Boys Lax

It can't get much better for local fans then No. 3 Croton-Harmon hosting No. 11 Hendrick Hudson in the Section 1 Class C quarterfinals, which are scheduled to be held today at 4:30 p.m. at Spencer Field.

We caught up with Hendrick Hudson coach Craig Solomon before the ceremony honoring Sailor baseball coach Paul Natale on Saturday at Sunset Field and he was more than happy to discuss his team's big game.

"It should be a good game," Solomon said. "They have had a tremendous season so we will have to go there and play our best."

Solomon said that the last couple of years the Sailors' rivalry with the Tigers has certainly picked up.

"Their athletic program has really taken off," Solomon said. "They have had a lot success on the football field and now a lot of those kids are playing lacrosse as well. The proximity helps and just the fact that it is a really meaningful game adds to it."

To get more info on this and other games, see Mike Dougherty's predictions on the LoHud Boys Lacrosse Blog.

Sectional Seedings

The seedings for the upcoming Section 1 baseball tournaments were announced according to MSG Varsity.

Two of the local teams will be playing in Class A out-bracket road games today at 4:30 p.m.

No. 19 Walter Panas will play No. 14 Rye, which is coached by Peekskill graduate Mike Bruno and No. 22 Hendrick Hudson will play No. 11 Tappan Zee, the defending Class A champion.
