Where to Vote on School Boards, Budgets

Polls open at 7 a.m. in Hendrick Hudson, Peekskill and Lakeland.


Hendrick Hudson, Peekskill and Lakeland district residents go to the polls May 20 to choose school trustees and vote on spending proposals for 2014-15.

In Hendrick Hudson, the $73,364,269 budget is expected to carry a 2 percent tax-rate decrease for property owners in Peekskill and a 0.2 percent increase for Cortlandt property owners. 

There's also a proposition on the ballot asking voters to approve spending up to $525,000 for school buses and related equipment.

Incumbent Hendrick Hudson school trustees Barbara Pettersen and Charles Thompson are running for new terms. 

The election is held at Frank G. Lindsey School on Trolley Road in Montrose.

Residents go to the polls in Peekskill May 20 to vote for two of four people running for seats on the Board of Education:

  • Douglas Glickert
  • George Ondek
  • Richard Sullivan
  • Joseph Urbanowicz 
Also on the ballot in Peekskill is the trustees' proposed $79.8 million spending plan for 2014-15.

Polls are open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Peekskill High School.

In Lakeland, newcomers Denise Kness and Rachelle Nardelli seek seats on the Board of Education, and incumbent trustees Scott Carey, Michael Cherchia and Glen Malia are asking the voters for re-election.

In addition to the proposed $161.17 million budget, residents will vote on a proposition to spend up to $970,284 for vehicles and equipment.  

Voting takes place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Van Cortlandtville Elementary School in Mohegan Lake.
